Vegas Vacation July 2001!!
Yes, they got me on the plane. I know it is hard to believe but Duane, Valerie and Heather finally talked me into going on a vacation via plane that would be more than a one and a half hour flight! Suffice to say I am ready to go back. Yes, most say the gambling is the draw...maybe..but not in my case.. I will go back, but because there is much to be discovered, explored, besides the noise..the lights...the money : ) Please note as of this date 9/9/01 this page is lacking alot of verbage and pics. Will add as soon as both develop.
Red Rock Canyon
This was one of the high points of my vacation. I thank my traveling companions for putting up with me and my school girl excitement. I guess it is the Hopi in my blood-the love of nature that brought me here. Sadly the girls were not as impressed with the surroundings as I. They sat in the car most of the time, whilst I climbed up and down the rocky landscape. Duane was kind enough to follow me-to make sure I didn't take the paths marked "dangerous."
I was awe struck by the landscape. To travel from the "glitz" of Las Vegas, the emptiness, flatness of the desert to end up here 40 or so minutes later. The mountains seeming to reach to kiss the sky, (thx Jimi) the colors..truly beautiful. I could have sat for hours gazing at the rock formations, the lightening touching the ground off in the distance. There is never enough time, but I will go back and explore. Maybe then I will be further blessed to see more of the wildlife! Tis a wonderment!

Dam Tour
I balked, I complained, I pleaded not to go...but in the end I did take the DAM tour. And now I sit here and wonder why I made so much noise. The DAM tour was awesome...I am, of course speaking of the Hoover Dam Tour. If you ever get a chance to take the DAM tour ask for Jim, (cowboy Jim) he was our DAM Guide. And a DAM fine guide he was.

Hotels
The pictures below do not even begin to show the "WOW" of Vegas but thought I would let you in on some of what we saw while walking (or driving) the streets of Vegas. Lacking here are pictures of the hotel itself, that we stayed in...Treasure Island. Great place...arggghhhh!!

Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden
Ahhhh, now we come to the best part of the whole vacation-Siegfried and Roy!! This is truly the only reason we came to Las Vegas-I JEST!! We did not pay the $100 + to see the guys. From what we had seen their show was just a tad to Glitzy for our taste! BUT that is not to say that I do not respect the boys and what they do for our friends-the animals! They have a great habitat for the Cats (when they are not hanging out at S&R's home) and also a wonderful dolphin research facility.
